HRH Obi Martha Dunkwu, Omu Anioma, exchanging pleasantries with the newly elected First National Deputy President, NACCIMA, Chief Alaba Lawson (Iyalode of Yorubaland), at the NACCIMA 55th AGM/Conference, in Calabar.
The iconic Omu Anioma, HRM Obi Martha Dunkwu has been elected and inaugurated as the pioneer National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the apex organized Nigerian business association – Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA). She was elected during the 55th Annual General Meeting, AGM/Conference of the group which held in Calabar, Cross Rivers State on June 4, 2015.
Chief Bassey Edem was elected National President of NACCIMA. He took over from the newly sworn-in Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, MON, MNI, who was present to hand-over leadership of NACCIMA to his successor.
The conference which had the theme: “Policy Consistency In Agricultural Value Chain: A Key To Socio-economic Development” was declared open by His Excellency, Muhammed Buhari, GCFR, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, ably represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade.
Meanwhile, the scientific session of the conference was chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. James Epoke, while the Executive Director of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), Dr. Yemi Akinbamijo who gave a keynote address did justice to the theme of the conference.
At the Dinner Session of the conference, the Executive Governor of Cross Rivers State, His Excellence, Senator Prof. Ben Ayade did the inauguration of the newly elected NACCIMA Executive, charging them to discharge their duties diligently and responsibly in a way of taking the Chamber Movement forward and helping to develop the Nigerian economy.
Earlier at the palace of the Obong of Calabar on a courtesy visit, HRM Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, the Obong of Calabar had commended the NACCIMA Council for electing one of his brightest subjects as National President, thereby appealing to them to explore the rich natural endowment of the kingdom for business development. He also appreciated the Omu Anioma, HRM Obi Martha Dunkwu for the cultural and traditional role she is playing in projecting the Anioma nation without allowing her educational background in the UK and US to deter her.
