Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa had being described as the most-friendly governor to the unemployed in Nigeria, as displayed on inauguration as Governor of Delta State, by the various employment, jobs creation and skills acquisition schemes already rolled out, to take away joblessness and unemployment from Deltans.
This eulogy was delivered by the National Patron of NNUUG, Bishop Greatman Nmalagu, during the conference of the Nigeria National Union of Unemployed Graduate, (NNUUG), in Asaba on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
According to Bishop Nmalagu, it is in recognition of this impressive initiative by the Delta sate governor that the NNUUG members deemed it fit to honnour the governor and decorate him with that award as “The Most-Friendly Governor to the Unemployed”, because of his past records as a job provider for the employable ones in Delta state
The Bishop further noted that Governor Okowa, through the establishment of these various empowerments and job creation programmes in Delta state, within less than three months of his administration is actually fulfilling his campaign promises, of “Prosperity for All Deltans”, which the creation and implementation of the various empowerment schemes are based on.

The body of the unemployed graduates, also used the occasion to seek the partnership of the Delta state government with the NNUUG, to properly eliminate the scourge of unemployment in Delta state, as contained in an address giving by the President, Comrade Micheal Asiwe Jnr, during the conference.
According to Com Asiwe, the body among other things, was formed to established and secure a system that will cater for the needs of Nigerian Employable Graduates through peaceful dialogue with the government, to widen the scope of interaction between the group and government in the area of provision of employment opportunists, welfare packages, to advise and provide information for the needy and recommend those in need of employment opportunities to the relevant agencies, among others.
The conferences which was attended by the unemployed from the 25 LGA ‘s and members of the public also witnessed a lecture with the Theme: Graduates for Nation Building, with sub titles, Sustainable Development in Nigeria: The role of Nigeria University Graduates, delivered by a lecturer from the Fine and Applied Arts Department, Delta state University, Prof. Osa Egonwa, and Prof. Austine Anigala, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, who delivered a paper titled, “Factors Required to be a Graduate that can Assist in Nation Building”
