This disclosure was made by the chairman of the hosting committee, Sir Richard Asenime, who confirmed that a number of events have been lined up as part of activities slated for the meeting scheduled from July 30 –August 1, in Asaba.
The events, according to Sir Asenime, include courtesy visits to the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, himself an alumnus of the University of Ibadan, as well as the Asagba of Asaba, Asagba (Prof) Chike Edozien, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday and the Obuzor of Ibusa, Obi (Prof) Nwaoboshi, both of whom are distinguished pioneers of the University of Ibadan, amongst other activities.
Asenime further added that the NEC meeting will be hosted at Benizia Hotel, on Saturday August 1, where far reaching decisions affecting the well being and sustenance of the UIAA family nationwide will be addressed.
“The essence of the NEC meeting is to showcase and promote the Asaba chapter and also give the UIAA family the opportunity to be hosted by the home chapter of the National President, Dr. Kemi Emina, who was elected after serving meritoriously in the Asaba Chapter.
It will also give the National body the opportunity to visit and felicitate with the new Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who is a distinguished alumnus and member of the UIAA, Asaba Chapter,” Asenime said.
Host Chairman and Delta State Head of Service, Sir Patrick Origho confirmed that all arrangements have been put in place to ensure a successful hosting, even as he assured that the UIAA Asaba chapter was now poised to take its pride of place as the first amongst equals in the annals of alumni associations in Delta State and Nigeria.
