Okowa GovThe Delta State government has stated categorically that it’s free Education and Free Health Care programmes are still on course.

This clarification became imperative to debunk the wide spread rumours and negative propaganda making the rounds in the state that the Okowa administration has re-introduced school fees and medical bills in the state’s education and medical sectors.

A statement issued by Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and titled: Free Education And Free Healthcare Schemes Still On Course, reads thus: “The Delta State Government wishes to inform the general public that it has not abolished its free education and free health care schemes in the state.

“This clarification has become necessary on account rumours making the round especially in the social media that the programmes have been suspended.

We wish to state categorically and in line with the administration’s S.M.A.R.T agenda that the free education scheme in primary and secondary schools and the free health care schemes in our hospitals in the state are still operational and nobody should pay any form of fees for them.

“For the avoidance of doubt, any official who collect any levy in our schools and hospitals should be reported to the relevant authority and the full weight of the law will be visited on that person. Please be guided accordingly,” the statement concluded.
