The present government in Delta state, under Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa is people oriented and has been structured to carry every sector along in all spheres of the administration’s policy thrusts and initiative, designed to ensure prosperity for all Deltans.
Bishop Greatman Nmalagu, the Executive Assistant to the governor on Religious Matters asserted this on Saturday November 7, 2015 in Ogwashi-Uku in an occasion held in his honour by the Concerned Ministers for Nigerian Development, Aniocha South Chapter, for his appointment as an aide to the governor.
According to him, “The governor gave the direction of his government right from the day of his inauguration on May 29, 2015 when he stated that programmes that will positively affect the lives of Deltans will be vigorously be pursued by his government, which he demonstrated on the June 7, 2015 when he immediately forwarded four bills to the Delta State House of Assembly for consideration, these bills were to guide the government in the physical, social and economic development of the state”. He said
Bishop Nmalagu while thanking the concerned ministers for honouring him, stated that apart from the bills, the governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has shown quality of leadership in his drive to reduce unemployment and restiveness in the state, by the different economic policies the government had taken, and as a result of this he is making the state proud.
“The governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, whom God sent to us is making us proud in many areas.” He said.
The Executive Assistant stated that under the SMART agenda programme of the state, with the prosperity mantra, the government has shown that the people of Delta are to be empowered to live a better and prosperous life, that was while the government commenced the various skill acquisition programmes, giving out agricultural incentives to farmers, the disbursement of micro credit facilities to Small and Medium scale businesses (SME), the continuation of the free education programme of the Peoples democratic Party in the state, the quick response to flood victims in affected areas of the state, are all the various policies of the government to bring a better living condition to Deltans.
“He is vigorously pursuing his agenda of prosperity for all Deltans, under the SMART agenda, and to bring this to fruition he embarked on the training of youths, so that they can acquire different skills, on areas that by tomorrow will make them viable, productive, and make them prosperous”. He added.
He therefore called on Christians in the state not to relent in their prayers for the present government under His Excellency, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa and all his cabinet members and other political appointees to ensure that the mantra, “Prosperity for All Deltans” is achieved, because many issues that are hindering the development of the state can only be effectively handled through prayers, like the increasing menace of the activities of the Hausa/Fulani herdsmen which is becoming a threat to the peaceful and corporate existence of the state.
Earlier, the co-ordinator of the Aniocha South chapter of the Concerned Ministers for Nigeria Development, Rev. Dr. Joseph Okonji, in his welcome address extolled the virtues of Bishop Greatman Nmalagu, thanked the governor Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa for the appointment.
