The road project, according to inside sources, had been attracted into the budget by the then Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, while in the Senate in 2012, but the contractor had not mobilized to start work at the project site, since then.
Consequent upon his resumption of office, as Senator representing the Delta North Senatorial zone in the Senate, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, as the Chairman Senate committee on NDDC, made good his electoral promise to ensure that while all abandoned projects awarded by NDDC in the zone would be completed and also erring contractors would equally be sanctioned and made to face the law.
The commencement of construction work on the abandoned Agidiase/Edo/Otulu/Ukwu Oji link road in Delta State, is not only a clear testimony of the fulfillment of that promise, but indeed good-news for the people of Delta North, as the effort of Senator Nwaoboshi is beginning to yield results, with the massive construction work which has now commenced at the project site since May 2016.
It was also learnt that the contractor, mindful of the seriousness of Senator Nwaoboshi’s resolve, has promised to accelerate work on the project and even set a completion date for the project, latest by December 2016, subject to the to the vagaries of the rainy season.
Feelers sourced from very competent sources, affirm that the commendable synergy between Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, has contributed immensely in ensuring that this project and indeed more dividends of democracy are attracted to the Anioma people, even as there is considerable enthusiasm and optimism in the zone, that the progressive and result oriented leadership and representation of Senator Nwaoboshi, would ensure the even distribution of NDDC projects across Delta North Senatorial district and the expectations of the people would be positively addressed, with the passage, funding and implementation of the NDDC budget, 2016.
