The member representing Aniocha north constituency at the State House of Assembly Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi has been commended for donating his entire salary to the feeding of indigent persons in Aniocha North, even as he has been charged not to relent in his charitable deeds for the people of his constituency.
This commendation was made by the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi during the Flag off of Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi’s Charity Program for the Indigent persons in Aniocha North, at the Obi of Issele-Uku Palace Ground, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State.
Rt. Hon. Osanebi, represented by a former Speaker of the Delta Legislature and member representing Oshimili South at the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya, said that the benevolent action of Hon. Nwaobi for the indigent and needy was a clear demonstration that he was a good leader of his people.
He urged Hon. Nwaobi not to relent in his efforts at providing succor to the less privileged, who were an integral segment of the society, while calling on him to also remain steadfast in his resolve of giving quality representation to the people of Aniocha north, at the state house of Assembly, adding that the people of the constituency did the right thing by voting overwhelmingly for Hon. Nwaobi as their representative in the state House of Assembly.
The Deputy Speaker, who described Hon. Nwaobi as a gift to the people of the area due to his great passion for them, equally called on the beneficiaries of the Charity program to continue to support him by way of prayers for God’s continuous strength for him to continue to deliver effective service to the people.
In his own address at the occasion, the member representing Aniocha North Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Engr . Emeka Nwaobi stated that the event was made possible through the mandate overwhelmingly given to him by the people, which they demonstrated through their massive votes for him and for the Governor of the State, Senator. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, adding that the charity program was in fulfillment of his promise after his inauguration as the member representing the constituency at the State House of Assembly, that his entire salary for the period of his tenure would be used for the feeding of the indigent persons who could not afford three square meals a day.
Hon. Nwaobi stated that his electoral mandate was made possible by the grace and mercy of God, adding that he was on a mission as directed by God, with a clear message that the Poor and the needy will not suffer hunger, throughout his stay at the Delta State House of Assembly.
The Honourable member called on the beneficiaries to always remember him in their prayers, while revealing that he is a living testimony of the efficacy of prayers as well as a living proof that the Lord God lives, adding that if not for God he would not have been at the State House of Assembly.
He also called on the people of the Constituency to always remember the Governor as well as the entire Country in their prayers, noting that it is only God that will deliver the Country from the bad economic situation it is facing at the moment.
Earlier in their speech, the Committee for the Actualization of Hon. (Engr.) Emeka Nwaobi’s Charity Scheme, said that they were inaugurated on the 4th of march, 2016, with the mandate of working out the modalities for actualizing the promise made by Hon. Engr Emeka Nwaobi to channel his entire salary to the indigent persons and a charge to carry out their mandate with the fear of God, truth, Justice and fairness, bearing in mind that the beneficiaries must actually be those in need, irrespective of their political affiliations.
The committee, headed by a renowned catholic priest, Monsignor Buchi Aninye noted in their speech read by a member of the committee, Dr. Henry Emelue, that the Scheme is unique and promising in the sense that it would last as long as Hon. Emeka Nwaobi remained in office, adding that since it is an ongoing scheme, they were pleading with those who did not benefit at the flag off to be patient with them, as the three categories of beneficiaries, made up of over two hundred persons, have been drawn up to benefit at the event.
In their separate comments, the Delta North PDP Chairman Hon. Moses Iduh and the Delta State PDP Secretary, Chief Obi Nzeteh and the Publicity Secretary Delta State PDP and former Aniocha North PDP Chairman, Hon. Ifeanyi Osuoza, hailed Hon. Nwaobi for the his benevolence in addressing the needs of the indigent in his constituency through this very laudable charity programme and while calling on the beneficiaries to use the charity package judiciously, urged them to vote for the PDP in subsequent elections in order to continue to enjoy such benevolence and charity from their representatives.
Highpoint at the occasion, which was attended by some members of the Delta State House of Assembly, including Hon. Eric Oharis (Ughelli II), Hon. Azuka Azaka (Ndokwa West), Hon. Tony Elekeokwuri (Ika North East), and Hon. Alphonsos Ojo (Ukwuani), as well as PDP State and Senatorial Party representatives and notable leaders of the party in the state, was the official presentation of the charity packages, mostly cash benefits, to the beneficiaries, by the Representative of the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya, the Chairman Delta state Civil Service Commission; Chief Nkem Okwuofu, the State Secretary of PDP; Chief Obi Nzeteh and the Delta North Chairman of PDP, Chief (Hon) Moses Iduh.
Earlier, the member representing Aniocha constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi had led his guests on a brief courtesy call to the Crown Prince of Issele-Uku and the already recognized king of Oligbo Kingdom, HRH Engr. Nduka Ezeagwuna, to intimate him of the charity programme which was taking place at the Palace grounds, after which he received the royal blessings of the Monarch in council and the endorsement to proceed with the humanitarian event.
