mrsokowaThe fight against sickle Cell Disease was brought to Ndokwa Nation, with the commissioning of the Sickle Cell Unit at the Central Hospital Kwale and a Water Project at Kwale Prisons, by the first lady of Delta State, Dame (Mrs.) Edith Okowa.

Reacting to the development, the Executive Director, Social Services Development, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Hon Ochor Chris Ochor, thanked the first Lady and the people of Ndokwa for their contributions towards the execution and completion of the projects.

According to him, the ceremony which was well attended by the people of Ndokwa, was a good development, as both projects commissioned by the first lady, were signs of better thing to come for the people of Ndokwa nation.

The Executive Director, who affirmed that he is joining the first lady to thank the people of Ndokwa for their efforts for the success of the projects, said for once the individual contributions and the large number of people from Ndokwa, who attended the occasion were a sign of unity, as the ceremony was also an expression of appreciation to His Excellency, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa.

On the water project built at the Nigerian Prison Kwale, Ochor called on the management and inmates of the prison to ensure that it is protected, so that the benefit of the project can be felt in the prison.

Hon. Ochor called on the people of Ndokwa to utilize the facilities at the Sickle Cell Unit to confirm their genotypes in order to avoid preventable pains, saying that the ability to deliver such projects is the reason the political leaders of the area asked the Ndokwa people to vote for Senator Okowa as Governor of Delta State in the last election.

“Her delivery of such projects is the reason we asked Ndokwa people to vote for Senator Okowa as Governor,” he concluded.
