The conferment of the Peace studies and practice fellowship, is expected to be performed during the 10th International Conference of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP), slated to hold at the Conference Hall of Grand Hotels Asaba, Delta State, from August 15 – 17, 2016.
The conference, which has as its theme, “Curbing Corruption and Building Sustainable Peace”, will be chaired by Prof. Sam Oyovbaire, Chairman, Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council and former Minister of Information of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while the keynote address will be presented by Prof. Sola Akirinade, Provost, ICPC, Anti-Corruption Academy.
Barr. Otuaro, a long standing member of Society for Peace Studies and Practice (MSPSP), whose sterling credentials for promoting peace and anti corruption crusader, have been well documented, once noted that the more a nation invests in fighting corruption the more peaceful society becomes.
The focal person for the Conference in Asaba, Dr. Mathias Jarikre (PhD), disclosed that the focus on corruption would not just be limited to the noticeable shortcomings in the running of the executive, judiciary and legislative arms of government, but would also include activities of sharp practices across the nine tracks of the multi-track diplomacy matrix, which encapsulates civil society organizations, private business houses, private individuals, academic institutions, religious organizations and the media, amongst others.
Dr Jarikre further disclosed that the papers to be presented at the conference would equally include those evaluating the peace building strategies of the existing anti-corruption agencies in different parts of Africa and their impacts.
One of the major highlights of the conference will be the formal Investiture of Delta State Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro and others recipients, as Fellows of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice, FFSPSP.
