The Councilor representing ward 5 in Aniocha North Local Government Legislative Arm, comprising Issele-Mkpitime and Issele-Azagba in Aniocha North Local Government area of Delta State, Hon. Richard Anonyei, marked his two years of purposeful service to the people of the ward with a bumper delivery of democracy dividends across the two constituencies under his mandate.
Motivated by the great desire deliver the dividends of democracy to his people, Hon. In his address at the occasion, Hon Richard Anonyei expressed his profound gratitude to the leaders and the people of ward 5, Issele-Mkpitime and Issele-Azagba for the confidence they reposed in him by way of massive support during and after the elections, even as he pledged his unalloyed loyalty to them, stressing that their support which he described as unflinching, made it possible for him to be where he was today, not only as their councilor, but as the Deputy Leader of the Local Government Legislative Arm,
“My great and good people of ward 5, indeed the journey and the task has been sustainable, yet very challenging. It was not what I expected and envisaged that I met at the Local Government Council. What I met was disheartening and discouraging, but for the mandate you have given to me and the special grace of God, I moved ahead”, he said.
Speaking further on his stewardship, the Councilor said, “The real challenge I met as your councilor was occasioned by serious paucity of funds, being that our Local Government depends solely on the statutory allocation from the federation Account. With the serious down- turn in the price of crude Oil in the International Market, as well as the activities of our brothers, the Niger Delta Avengers, which reduced drastically the production level of our crude oil, the money accruable to the Federation Account was seriously affected, hence the near zero allocation to our Local Government. Based on this, the Local Government finds it very difficult, meeting its statutory obligations to the people,” he stated.
Hon, Anonyei who is also known as Hon. Anorich, said that despite the present harsh economic realities, he decided on his own and in line with the wishes of his people and as their elected councilor to explore all available possibilities, including accessing facilities from financial institutions, to bring the dividends of democracy to his people.
