The groundswell of popular support from across Rivers State, urging business mogul and frontline political chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC Party, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, to vie for the highest political office in the state, received another major boost, when two seperate groups; Concerned Rumuekini Foundation Forum (CRFF) and the Young Aspiring Leaders Network (YALN), threw their considerable weight behind the strident calls clamouring for the charismatic politician to contest the governorship ticket of the state come 2019.

Citing the present realities in the state, symbolized by what they described as the apparent failure and inability of the present adminstration to deliver on many of its promised dividends of democracy to Rivers people, the Concerned Rumuekini Foundation Forum (CRFF), a political group boasting over twelve thousand voting strength in Ward 15 of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, urged the APC and Chief (Barr) Dumo Lulu-Briggs (DLB) to emerge in 2019 and change the leadership status quo in the state positively.

Leader of the group, Mr. Nwoha Boniface Obinuchi, who made this declaration when he led the group to pay a solidarity visit to Chief Lulu-Briggs at his office in Port Harcourt, said the visit became necessary as the people have lost confidence in the current adminstration’s ability, especially in finding a practical solution to rescue them from insecurity with killings, beheadings and kidnappings becoming recurring events across the state in recent times.

Appealing on behalf of Rumuekini people that he makes himself available for the number one position in the state, Comrade Obinuchi stressed that the group had come to find out the stance of Chief Lulu-Briggs on the matter and convince him to consider contesting the 2019 election, adding that they believed in the will and capacity of Chief Lulu-Briggs to redeem Rivers State from its dwindling fortunes occasioned by, what he ascribed to as, misgovernance and a complete disregard for the welfare and immediate needs and desires of the people.

Similarly, another group, the Young Aspiring Leaders Network (YALN) with its membership drawn from different political parties in the 23 Local Government Areas of the state, equally entreated Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs to vie for the governorship of the state under the APC come 2019, assuring him that Rivers youths were eagerly looking up to the frontline Rivers politician to make the difference and bring quality leadership to the affairs of the state.

Leader of the group, Comrade Promise Ukachukwu, who spoke on behalf of YALN, said they had been monitoring Chief Lulu-Briggs’ antecedents and his huge investments in youths, through the Dumo Lulu-Briggs Youth Foundation, DYF, as well as other youths empowerment and capacity building programmes and initiatives and they were fully convinced that, given his commitment to the youth of the state and his legendary humanitarian efforts at addressing and alleviating the suffering of the massses, the youths and indeed Rivers people will enjoy the best of leadership with a man like him at the helm of governance in the state.

Describing YALN as a youth pressure group clamouring for Rivers youths to be fully integrated and meaningfully engaged politically, as against the cheerleaders and errand boys role they currently play during elections,
Comrade Ukachukwu said the group has no doubts whatsoever, that Dumo Lulu–Briggs is the only one amongst other frontline Rivers politicians, who truly understand the importance of youth development and the group had come to passionately appeal to him to consider taking up the challenge to run for the governorship of Rivers State in 2019.

They also extended a formal invitation to Chief Lulu-Briggs to address Rivers youths during their forth-coming youth confab scheduled for Septembe 14, 2017 at the NUJ Secretariat in Port Harcourt.

Receiving both groups separately on behalf of Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the Director General of the DLB Liberation Movement, Hon. Okem Okocha and a senior member of the Movement, Amieye Farouk (AKA Baba T) promised to convey their messages and entreaties to the business mogul, even as they urged the youths to maintain their non-violent disposition in their collective and commendable quest to achieve the change they were aspiring for.

Hon. Okocha thanked the groups for the visits and charged them to go back and mobilise their members to register with the APC in their wards, even as he stressed the need for them to also make sure they get their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs ready, if they seriously desire a change in the leadership of the state.
